Basketball Practice Plans

Create basketball practice plans

Here's some more tips for creating a good basketball practice plan.

Tip # 3 – Keep your practice plans short at the end of the year

If you are still running long practice sessions near the end of the season, you may want to reconsider. Not only is it hard on your players since they can play up to two games a week, but at that point in the season, you should be fine tuning what you've already taught. Sure, you can put in a new play here or there, but your players should know your system and be able to execute your game plan without much direction.

As you get close to the end of the season, try cutting your basketball practice plans to 1.5 hours (or less). This will allow your kids to rest. Having a team with a fresh set of legs can go a long way, especially at the end of a game

Tip # 4 – Make sure the kids have FUN

Your players have a lot going on during the season (i.e. – family, friends, homework, etc.) so it’s important to make practice fun. Try to have a few practices that focus on fun drills or scrimmages. It can lighten the mood after a hard loss, and it will go along way with your players.
