Baseball Practice Plans
Here's some more tips for creating a good baseball practice plan.
In all sports, not just baseball, the team that does the little things right always has a greater chance of winning the game. By paying attention and correcting little nuances in a player’s pitching mechanics, batting stance, fielding technique, your team gets better. Sometimes one play, hit, or error can cost or give you a victory so while you are coaching during practice, pay attention to the little things. If your kids aren’t doing what you ask, discipline them (running, push ups) and explain why they are important.
Baseball Tip # 4 – Have FUN!
It’s easy for coaches to get caught up in wins and losses. You have so many practices and games during the regular season (and off-season) that it’s easy to lose sight of what is important. Most kids play baseball because they enjoy the game. I say ‘most’ because there are some parents who push their kids to play, but a majority of them just like being a part of the team and taking the field on a nice day. Keep this in mind and try to make practices fun for the kids. It’s especially important after a hard loss. You can lighten the mood by adding some fun drill and games to your practice plan.
