Baseball Practice Plans
Creating a baseball practice plan can be difficult, and it’s easy to get into the same routine day in and day out. To help you add some variety to your practices, we’ve compiled some tips for creating a good baseball practice plan.
No matter was age group you coach, every one can benefit from understanding the ‘why’. When coaching your baseball team, how often do you explain why you want your players to run through a drill?
Next time you teach your kids a new baseball drill, explain why it is important. When the kids understand how it will benefit them, the are more likely to put in a good effort.
Tip # 2 – Invest in or get access to a batting cage.
There’s an old saying, “If a kid can hit, you can find a place for him,” and it’s true no matter what age group you coach. Kids who have a good swing and hit the ball consistently will always have a spot in your lineup. One of the best ways to work on your player’s hitting skills is to buy or get access to a batting cage.
By running your players through the batting cage, you can work on their mechanics and drill the changes into muscle memory. The best way to get rid of old habits is repetition.
If your team doesn’t have enough funds or a facility for a batting cage, see if your local sports community has one. Most times, you can schedule time for your team for a small fee.
